Christ A. Balouris, M.D. is a partner with Eye Physicians and Surgeons, LTD, a Pittsburgh-based ophthalmology practice with four convenient locations - Downtown Pittsburgh, North Hills (Passavant), Aspinwall (St. Margaret) and Shadyside.

Dr. Balouris, a native of Pittsburgh, received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1980 in Chemistry, followed by his Doctorate in Medicine in 1984, all at the University of Pittsburgh.  He then completed his medical internship at Northwestern University/Evanston in 1985.  In 1988, he completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh/Eye and Ear Institute.  This was followed by an additional year of surgical experience overseas at St. John Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem.  There he headed the corneal transplant service as well as the trauma department, garnering extensive experiences in treating ocular injuries.  His treatment of numerous rubber-bullet injuries led to his publishing an article for a British medical journal on the devastating effects of rubber bullets to the eye.

In 1990, Dr. Balouris joined Eye Physicians and Surgeons (formerly Ophthalmology Associates of Pittsburgh) as a board-certified ophthalmologist.  He has had extensive clinical teaching experience and has served as a part-time attending surgeon for the University of Pittsburgh's Ophthalmology Residency Program.

Dr. Balouris currently specializes in "no-stitch" cataract surgery, as well as the management of glaucoma and diabetic eye disease.  He sits on the boards of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as the Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Society.  In addition, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Balouris joined the CME network in 2005 and is available for IME services for individuals with injuries related to the eye.
